I recently had an article published in The California Journal, the university’s official publication. It is the first time in, well, quite a while that I have written anything for publication. I was afraid I was going to be very rusty, but I made little to no errors, which was comforting. I also utilized the A.P. Stylebook more than I ever did for my Reporting & Newswriting course back at Etown. Heh.
I’ll have another in next week’s publication and I’m working on several more. I love this. I feel like my writing has more clout now that it’s appearing in something other than a school newspaper.
I’ll put a link up when it’s available on the website.

The journal is up! If you’re interested in reading, feel free to mosey on over. My article is on Page 3, entitled “Technology Education Students Continue Winning Ways,” if you’re interested in reading that too. Take heed; it’s in PDF format, we know how finicky PDFs can be!
On the plus, it’s always interesting to note just what people/organizations/what-have-you are doing to maintain “good PR.”

Interesting story on tap … Red Bull Bought the MetroStars.
I find it ironic, especially after the whole commercial involving the soccer players.
The team has already been re-named thus squelching any bad memories associated with the team’s prior history - a clean slate, if you will. This will be certainly prove to be a “fun” re-branding effort for the PR crew. I wonder if the little ‘wings’ shtick will come into play with their Marketing/PR/Advertising efforts.
Considering the company already owns another team and has built them into competitors, this may not be a bad deal after all.

Applying for the first job can be a stressful time. The undergraduate degree is almost finished - now what do I do?
I know there’s so many positions to apply for and there’s the Grad school application, which I still have yet to complete, but my breath catches in my throat when I wonder if I can possibly get lucky and nail my first job just like that. Perhaps, that’s wishful thinking.
I hate to fail, though I try so hard to shrug it off when I do. It’s in my nature to be competitive and succeed as I have for so long. I’ve had some unfortunate experiences. I think all things work out however, and I am fortunate to be doing what I am now within my university. It’s a good experience and I’m going to walk away an even better person. That in mind, I’m striving to maintain a positive outlook and hope for the best.

I’m going to another convention in April for the Eastern Communication Association. Our chapter of PRSSA is partnering up with several other chapters from area universities and we’re going to speak about belonging to the organization and its significance to its members inside the classroom and preparing members to go out into the “real world.”
It’s going to be held in Philadelphia. Not exactly my favorite place, but I may be able to see a few old friends. It should be a good time.
